❓ FAQ: What if I placed the right shares but for the wrong amount? (incorrect amount charged)
1. I bought/sold the right shares, but I entered the wrong amount. What happens now?
Once an order is confirmed and executed on the market, it generally can’t be changed or cancelled. If you entered a larger or smaller amount than intended, the trade will still settle as placed. Our team can help you understand your options, such as selling some of the extra shares or topping up if you wanted to invest more.
2. Can Superhero fix or reverse the trade for me?
No — once your order has executed on the ASX or US market, it is legally binding and can’t be reversed. What we can do is guide you on your next steps to bring your portfolio back in line with what you intended.
3. What can I do if I invested too much by mistake?
If you bought more than you meant to, you can:
Sell the extra shares once the trade has settled (T+2 business days).
Keep the additional investment if you’re comfortable with it.
4. What can I do if I invested less than I wanted?
If you bought fewer shares than intended, you can:
Place another order for the difference.
Review your portfolio and decide if you’d like to adjust over time instead.
5. Will I lose money if I fix the mistake?
When correcting an amount error, the value of your shares may go up or down between the time the first trade settled and when you place a new one. Any difference in price is outside of Superhero’s control. Brokerage fees will also apply for additional trades.
6. Can I cancel the trade before it goes through?
If your order was a Limit Order and it hasn’t executed yet, you may be able to cancel it in the app before it fills.
If your order was a Market Order, it usually executes immediately and can’t be cancelled.
7. How can I avoid this happening again?
Double-check the dollar amount or number of units you’re entering before confirming.
Review the Order Preview screen carefully — it shows you exactly how much will be invested.
If you’re new to trading, consider starting with smaller trades until you’re confident.
8. Who can I contact if I need help?
If you’ve placed a trade for the wrong amount, reach out to us via the Help Chat in the Superhero app. We’ll talk you through your options and help you decide the best way forward.
⚡ Tip: All trades settle in T+2 business days (two business days after the trade date), so any sell orders to correct an amount will only finalise after settlement.
